Dates: September 25-29, 2017

Curriculum Information for the Week:
Literacy: Students are beginning to write their literary essays using the books they are reading or listening to...such as their read alouds… “Home of the Brave” and “Kensuke’s Kingdom.” Students will also be reading articles online learning about children around the world who are making a difference. They will be taking notes to determine how children solve problems.

Math:  Adding and Subtracting Fractions continues this week as we move into operations with unlike denominators.  Students will develop conceptual understanding using manipulatives and models to show their thinking.  In addition to the current unit, students are continuing to practice two and three digit multiplication and division from unit 1 to consolidate their learning.

Unit of Study:  Students will look into the role of citizens in a community and how they can impact society. Social Changemakers will come this week on Tuesday and Wednesday (10:30-1:00). The students will listen to all 12 speakers and hopefully will be inspired to make changes in our own community. Of course all parents are welcome to attend this conference and learn along with your children.
